About Us
Knottywood Treasures has been in business since 1975. We were first known as "Rex Cover Service" and were (and still remain) a first day cover new issue service for Colorano fdc's.
In 1998 we expanded our inventory to include Collins first day covers, United States Stamps, Antiques and old glass. Because of this we felt the need for a new name to reflect our expanded business.
In addition to currently having the largest inventory of Colorano covers available, (2,500+ covers and growing) we also have an online, up to date, illustrated catalog available and a bi-monthly newsletter advising of new issues and other news for the fdc collector.
Colorano "silk" and Collins "hand Painted" first day covers.
We consider both their cachets the best contemporary covers being produced today.
Colorano's cachet is made of a silk like material and enclosed in a golden border. Colorano produces first day covers for every U.S. stamp issued, including Air Mail, Postal Cards, Postal Envelopes Duck Stamps and others. His quantity produced is far less then most of the larger first day cover makers.
Collins first day covers have original art work and have hand painted cachets. Collins also uses other unique and personilized items to add interest to his first day covers. The use of interesting designs, dual and combo stamps and cancels, and very limited production all add up to very special fdcs.
