Identificaion of US military planes please

Postby cocollectibles on Sun Jul 01, 2012 3:47 pm

I have a bunch of photos/lithos of various US aircraft, including military aircraft. All but these three are identified by printing on the back. Can anyone tell me what these planes are? Thanks.

Hey Peter,

The first one might be a McDonnell F2H-2 Banshee VF-11

The 3rd one is a Corsair, possibly an A5.

Still trying to hunt down the 2nd one.

The husband was in the Air Force so this is his over 50 year old memory and a bit of research. Hope this helps you out at least in a direction to finding out what they are. And yes, I got a lesson on aircraft! F is fighters, and then there is trainers within the fighters and you have Marine aircraft as well as Navy and they all had their own little changes. I finally asked him what the perfs were and did they have a watermark!

The first one is obviously the Batwing.

The second is Wonder Woman's Invisible Jet just as it is decloaking.

The third is the Avengers' Quinjet. You should have known this one.

Thanks Luree and Rich!

I also emailed my cousin, who was in three airborne services (USAF, Marines, and Navy) but have not heard back from him. Will update if/when he does reply.

The second one is an Northrop F-89B Scorpion 49-2463 which during assembly was modified to serve as the solde YF-89D test aircraft according to this website http://cgibin.rcn.com/jeremy.k/cgi-bin/ ... ntent=F-89

The third one looks almost like an McDonnel Douglas F-11 but since it's NAVY I'm not that familiar with this type of aircraft.

Hope this helps,

Andy

Sorry, no planes on stamps; just glossy photos. I have about 100 and these are the only ones not identified.
