Not Happy

Postby jbtb1096 on Wed Jun 20, 2012 10:01 am

When I check my auctions and I see a bidder with zero feedback I go into their feedback profile and see if they are a new bidder or they have positive & negative feedback resulting in the zero shown. Well it happened again today. When I went into the bidders feedback profile I see the big red flag showing that their account is either inactive or suspended. Thankfully the auctions that they bid on were ending in a couple of days and I was able to remove all their bids. I just wish there was some kind of system check in place that if a persons account is inactive or suspended all their bids will be automatically removed. I am glad I only had to check my China auctions.

It is possible they bid prior to be suspended.

Rich is correct on that one. I have had other buyers do it in the past so now whenever I see a zero feedback I always check them out.

Good point. If the buyer was suspended during an auction, it should trigger an automatic cancellation of any bids or purchases. That would make sense. If their bid is left untouched, it artificially inflates the price for future bids.

As to the same ID at the other place ... bet he/she won't get suspended as quickly there!

I agree with you Peter about artificially inflating the auction prices. That is why I went into evey China auction that had more than 1 bid and checked to see if they have bid on it. Do you think I should also post something under the tips & suggestion cateory to see if it could be done?

I like that idea it would remove the seller from the loop of having to check and cancel bid of suspended buyers.

I don't think it matters where it is posted, but if you haven't done so, do send a message to Mark and Co. through Contact Us.

When a buyer is suspended, their bids should be removed at that time. That makes sense and is what is supposed to be happening. But for some reason it's not. We're looking into this and will resolve it. So you won't need to worry about that. However, once a sale has been made, this can not be undone. So when a buyer is suspended, sales which already happened are not cancelled. In most cases this also wouldn't make sense, besides the fact that the sale already took place. However, for items which did not close yet, it does make sense to remove any bids, so that suspended buyers do not win any new items.

Mark, My question which still has not been answered is how can a person place bids and then have their account showing as inative or suspended? This is not the first time this has happened to me and when it did the bids placed were mainly on my China auctions.

Because the bids were placed before their account was suspended. When their account is suspended their bids should be removed at that time, but for some reason they are not being removed, which we'll fix.
