Pleasant Buying Experience

Postby bcgrizzly24 on Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:34 pm

I just wanted the people that follow this forum to know that they have a very class act in their midst.
Dec. 24th I purchased just under $10 worth of stamps from this gentleman, paid for them and then waited for them to arrive. After a month I was getting a bit concerned but decided because of the HO HO season, I would wait a little longer. This week past I advised Michael Generali that I assumed the stamps had been lost by the postal service and not to worry about it as it wasn''t his fault.
He made an attempt to trace said stamps through Customs to no avail. Today, unexpectadly, he re-imbursed me for the lost stamps. You will always get :D :D's in my F/B's! Just wanted everyone to know.
Michael - you have a customer for life!

William,
Very nice post and kudos to Michael. You will find that this is NOT a rarity here but pretty much the norm . This site has everything going for it from the staff to buyers and sellers. I have been here a couple of years now and I continue to be impressed by the atmosphere and comradeship that goes on here. I am very pleased that you have also had a positive experience and are willing to share it. :D

Michael is a class act and an exemplar to all sellers here.

But I must add, you proved yourself to be a gracious customer too. You didn't "jump the gun" and leave negative feedback without communicating with the seller; you didn't send a nasty note demanding a full refund no matter what; you didn't go automatically to PayPal and file a claim without first checking with the seller; and you didn't do any of this after one week instead of waiting at least a decent enough period of time to allow for postal delays. Believe me, having experienced all those types of buyers, albeit in the minority, it is refreshing to have considerate ones around too.

Kudos to both of you!

Thank you for sharing your experience. Michael has always been a top-notch seller and I've bought from him lots and he's always been very professional and I agree with Peter, how wonderful of you to be able to accept the fact that its not always the seller but just might be our mail system. Too many people jump the gun ~ communication is the most important thing when buying stamps on the internet.

And as far as this site goes, its top-notch too, and so are you!

I have had several similar experiences with sellers here on BidStart. For me, most recently a seller in the Philippines ( Mowtai not Poppe ). I waited until we reached the PayPal time limit for filing a claim, as in my experience shipments from Philippines are often delayed. I then contacted the seller and advised him that I was filing the "dispute" only as a precaution as we had reached the PayPal time limit, and that gave us a little more time before I would have to file a claim. When the shipment still had not arrived by the time the PayPal extension was to expire, the seller made a full refund and I agreed to resend payment if the shipment finally did arrive.

So I fully agree ... ( a ) there are some very honorable and reasonable sellers here, I might even suggest most are and ( b ) communicating with the seller is a must before filing a dispute.
