New Notes in the My bidStart areas

Postby Mark on Fri Apr 20, 2012 3:07 pm

We've added a new basic Note feature to the My bidStart Buying, Selling and Block Bidder/Buyers pages. From any My bidStart section, click on the 'Details >' link, or item's title, and then click on the "Notes" link to add a note for yourself. For example, in the Items I'm Watching section, add a note as to why you're watching the item, or in the Items I've Sold section, add a note to keep track of any issues with the sale, etc.

If you've added a note, you'll also see the note icon display next to the title in the My bidStart areas.

We'll be doing some further testing this week, and featuring this in our newsletter next week. But you can start using it now if you'd like.

Great job! This is great! Thanks for moving forward with that suggestion. For ver. 2.0, if we could read the note by hovering over the icon (i.e. no clicks), that would make it darn near perfect!

How about renaming "notes" to read "contemplations"?

Just kidding!!!!

Mark, thanks for doing this; it really helps with tracking pending payment types.

How long will the note be there? Like is there a way for us to remove it, or would we just highlight/delete ourselves when the buy/sell is completed?

Good question... are these stored on the bidStart servers, or are they in cookies?

The notes are stored in bidStart. Any note you add to any buying section will show up for that item id in the buying section. For example, if you add a note to an item you are watching, and then purchase that item, you'll have the same note with that item in the Items I've Won section. Selling notes are separate, but work similarly.

Notes will remain until you delete them (clear the note).

Excellent! Thanks, Mark! Another very good reason for using this site - helpful and effective responses to buyer & seller requests for innovations that really help - and none of the heavy-handed top-down stuff from some other sites we might name (cough).

cheers, Brent

VERY helpful! I just used to mark a pending payment item with the date the buyer said he mailed the items. This is so helpful as in the past, there was no way to know this online since it only shows actual payment days. Thanks!!
