1939 US cover - anything unusual about it?

I acquired this cover in a small estate recently and wondered if there was anything unusual about the cancel or the coils used as postage?





I know the condition is really bad, but I thought I'd ask before I drop it into a bulk box or something..............

I can't say much about the cancel or the stamps per se, John . . .

. . . but I do like the concordance of the Cleveland, Ohio cancel and the James Garfield stamps --- Garfield was laid to rest in a huge memorial mausoleum in Lakeview Cemetery in downtown Cleveland. I used to walk by it on my lunch hours when I worked there!

Thanks, Dave! I love to have a bit of "side" info on some of these if I decide to sell.

This cover is so spotty with dirt, creases, etc. that I can't decide if the rail side makes it worth listing or not.

It's a double weight cover that went to a foreign destination, it has a railroad cornercard, and it used a very slightly less common stamp to get there. It's still only worth $1, but it is slightly more interesting than "just a plain, dirty old cover of no consequence". I imagine that some collector would be happy to have it for the dollar.

As of now it is being offered for $9.99 plus shipping. (Which I think is probably reasonable for a specialist.)

$9.99 plus $2.50 shipping for this cover?? We will have to agree to disagree on this one. Especially after asking "Any other comments on this or do I accept that it is just a plain, dirty old cover of no consequence?"

Talk about embarrassing............This cover was in a box to be sorted out in the warehouse. I didn't even realize that there was an active listing for it.

The listing has been closed. Boy, would this have put me into a panic if someone had purchased it and it wasn't in with our BidStart store items. Wow.

Back to the drawing board with this cover.........and time for a checkup on some of the items that have been in the store (and obviously overpriced) for far too long!!
