How does bidStart (Mark) prefer to be paid?

Postby RazzmatazzComics on Sat Apr 14, 2012 2:37 pm

I'm trying to save you transaction fees when paying my account balance. Do you prefer being paid with paypal, credit card, bank account, magic beans, seashells, or my personal favorite ---- Atlantic City casino slot play. I would pay you double what I owe you in slot play. :D

So what does Mark prefer? :?

He mentioned he preferred Google checkout, but that was as of a couple years ago he said that. Not sure if it's changed. Their fees have since gone up, too.

If I recall correctly, you can go to "My BidStart" and then select account details, which should bring up the amount you owe. There should be a link there to view your invoice for the month. I seem to recall the payment options (with BidStart's preferences) being listed there.

I'm out of country, so PayPal is the option I use. Seems to me that MoneyBookers and Google Checkout were the other options .........but I may be going back way too far (into StampWants days).

It's cheaper for SW if they process your CC themselves. The fees to them is about 2/3 of the fees from paypal or google.
They're not set up to do bank accts., that would be even cheaper though.

Paypal & Google are the same cost now, unless using a "business" CC at paypal (slightly higher %).
Moneybookers is no longer listed there, probably due to their flakiness for US/CA customers a couple years ago.

Actually due to the volume we do - PayPal is generally the ˝cheapest˝. However, the differnece is fairly negligible. We generally prefer sellers to pay with PayPal or Google Checkout, but for other reasons besides cost.

Oh wow, that's kind of surprising. I remember that they do discount their fees for volume processors, didn't think it'd be that much.

So I'll try to remember to go pay manually every 2 mo then. I'd always let you run my cc which works out well since I pay fees here every other mo normally & order stamp supplies in the interim months. I realized when I saw your new fees floor that I'd need to do it myself anyways if I want to stay on the bimonthly thing since my fees are around $25-35 per mo. & don't really want to let it get to $100 before paying them.

If you want to let us simply process your credit card, that's fine. In general, if you don't make a payment by the 25th of the month, your credit card on file will be charged (each month). Or as you noted if your balance goes over a certain amount now.

I just received an email from Bidstart asking me to pay via PAYPAL which I really don't want to do. Is this the new way to pay for Bidstart? I have been using my credit card on file since I started.

Not at all. Every month, on the first of the month, we send out an email invoice, which indicates that if you want to pay with PayPal or Google Checkout, please do so at this time. Otherwise your credit card on file will be charged on the 25th of the month. This is what we've always indicated. If you don't want to pay with PayPal or Google Checkout, you don't need to do anything, since as indicated, your credit card will be charged on the 25th of the month.

We changed the formatting of our monthly invoice about 2 months ago, but the content is essentially the same as it's always been.

Just to make sure I read one of the replies correctly, Google Checkout and Paypal fees are basically the same now? Correct?

Thanks!

Yeah. At least for now.

I was told that Mastercard and Visa are going to raise the fees that it charges to PayPal to process payments. We'll see what happens then. I don't know when the implementation date for that is. I will be surprised if PayPal doesn't pass that additional cost to us.
