SW - the Stamp Marketplace on bidStart

This past week, we completed two important milestones on our continued path toward a bright and growing future. This included moving to new, more powerful servers, as well as StampWants being re-branded as the exclusive stamp marketplace on our larger website - bidStart. I would like to personally take this time to go over some details of these two important steps with you, as well as address any questions or concerns you may have.

As our website continues to grow, more people access our website at the same time, and more items are bought and sold each day. In order to ensure continued fast and reliable service to all of our members, it was necessary to upgrade to new more powerful servers.

Upgrading to new servers is never a simple task, and we were working behind the scenes on this for over a month. Overall everything went very smoothly, and there were no major issues. However, our planned scheduled maintenance did last a little longer than expected, and we did run into a few minor issues which we quickly worked to correct. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Looking forward, we will now be able to handle several thousands of members on our website at the same time, all with even faster loading times than we've ever had before!

Over the past year, more items continued to be listed in our non-stamp categories, which originally was limited to a few select categories, all under one main 'Non-Stamp' category. After completing a re-design of our entire website earlier this year, we wanted to be able to offer not only stamp collectors and dealers the best online marketplace possible, but to offer the best online marketplace for enthusiasts in all collectible areas. At the same time, we wanted to ensure StampWants would remain the strong and prosperous community it has become for stamp collectors and dealers around the world.

We realized that creating separate websites was not the answer, and would fragment our community - not help it to grow. Extending into other collectible areas using our StampWants brand didn't make sense either because StampWants, even by name, should be just for stamps. After further discussion and research we decided that it made the most sense to refocus StampWants exclusively on stamps, and have StampWants be the exclusive stamp division and marketplace of a larger company - bidStart. bidStart is a collectible marketplace, which features several smaller collectible marketplaces under one name and website.

Essentially, StampWants is the stamp division of bidStart. This has many benefits, such as allowing www.stampwants.com to take users directly to the stamp marketplace on our website, and bypass all of the other non-stamp categories (which you could not do before). It also allows us to expand into other collectible marketplaces with a better suited name, and without interfering with our stamp marketplace. All links which point to www.stampwants.com will continue to work as normal indefinitely. As far as referring to bidStart and StampWants - bidStart encompasses the general website and all marketplaces, where as StampWants refers specifically to the stamp marketplace. If you own a store with us, and only sell stamps, you can refer to your store as your StampWants store (as usual), or as your bidStart store, either would be appropriate. You will also notice that when you are in the StampWants / stamp section of bidStart, the logo will also display a larger StampWants logo, with the sub-caption 'the stamp marketplace on bidStart'.
