New bidStart Shopping Cart
Last week we announced that we would begin rolling out our brand new, faster and easier to use shopping cart. After we confirmed everything was working as intended, the new shopping cart officially launched this past week on bidStart. We'd like to take this time to highlight a few of the new features and enhancements now available.
The first main enhancement with the new shopping cart is the shopping cart page itself. Items are now grouped together by seller, and allow you to view a complete total, including shipping and tax (where applicable):

Once you click to checkout with a particular seller, you are also presented with the opportunity to pay the seller at that time. This eliminates the additional steps previously needed, such as confirming your cart purchases, then going to the My bidStart - Items I've Won section, then clicking to pay, then re-reviewing the items you purchased, and then finally selecting your payment method.
As always, if you are waiting on an auction item to end, or plan to soon purchase additional items from a seller, you can select the option to 'Pay Later', and make one combined payment from the Items I've Won section as usual. Regardless of your payment choice, as soon as you click to purchase the items - you've purchased the items and they will close on bidStart, so that no other buyer can purchase them. If for any reason you abandon payment once started, you will need to return to the Items I've Won section to pay for them.
On the main shopping cart page, once you click to checkout, if you have any coupons from a seller, or bidStart Bucks! available, you'll be given the opportunity to use them at that time:

To ensure every member can take advantage of these new features, and to avoid any confusion, store items will now feature only a single 'Buy Now (Add to Cart)' button, instead of a separate 'Buy Now' and 'Add to Cart' button. The main reason for this is simple - it's three times faster to use the new shopping cart than the standard 'Buy Now' option. For example, say you want to purchase 20 store items. Previously, using the 'Buy Now' button you would need to go to the item listing page (loading 20 pages), then click to buy the item (loading 20 additional pages) and then click again to confirm your purchase (loading another 20 pages). With the new shopping cart, you would simply go to the each listing page (loading 20 pages), and then click to add the item to your cart (which does not cause a new page to load). Once you're done shopping, click to checkout, which will load the main shopping cart page once (where you can checkout with no additional pages to load). So what previously would take 60 pages to purchase 20 items, now only takes 21 pages, and a third of the time!
As a buyer or seller, you should also notice that notification emails for sold store items have now changed. Instead of receiving 100 separate emails if you purchase 100 items from a seller at the same time, you and the seller will now receive just 1 email, showing all 100 items. Making it both easier to manage, make sense of, and most importantly - less clutter for your mailbox.
This concludes our tour of the new shopping cart! If you have any questions, let us know, and feel free to visit bidStart and start using the new shopping cart today!
