A new main category is now being focused on in addition to stamps, coins, comic books and sports cards. That new category is Postcards! We've just revamped our Postcard categories and you can now find thousands of appropriate sub-categories based on both location and topic. We're also working with key sellers to help improve the Postcards category moving forward to ensure the best possible buyer and seller experiences.
We're also happy to announce that like our coin category, the postcard category will feature two free pictures per listing so that seller's can easily show both the front and back of their postcards. If you have postcards to sell now is a great time to start listing! If you're a postcard collector be sure to watch our Postcards category over the next few weeks as we expect the number of listings to exceed 100,000 items soon. If you'd like to help improve our Postcards category and postcard buying experience please feel free to share your comments and suggestions.
Free Listing Fees for Non-Stamp Categories Extended
As we continue to grow our non-stamp categories we're extending the free listing fee offer for non-stamp items throughout the rest of the year (December 31, 2010). So if you were hesitant to start listing new non-stamp store items due to the promotional period ending in June - don't worry about it! Start listing your non-stamp collectible items today.
On a related note, a question which has come up recently is if bidStart is still promoting our stamps category. The answer is yes, of course! The overwhelming majority of all of our current advertising and marketing is geared exclusively to stamp buyers and sellers. Since our switch from StampWants to bidStart we're actually spending more money on advertising and marketing to stamp buyers and collectors each month.
Overall, we've found that online advertising is the most effective for us, which makes sense since we're online too! We still take out advertising in philatelic print publications - most notably a full page ad in the APS magazine every month. However, we've found that many other print publications don't offer us the most return on our investment. That doesn't mean we've cut back on stamp advertising - only that we're investing the money we collect from fees more effectively in other forms of advertising and marketing directly to stamp buyers and sellers. Again, as always if you have any comments or questions, please let us know! Mexico Freed from Canada
When we first started back in 2005, in most cases the cost to mail an item to Mexico and Canada was about the same, and significantly cheaper than the rest of the world (from the United States). Since then a lot has changed and shipments to Mexico are generally in line closer with the rest of the world than Canada. As a result, we've decided to remove Mexico from the Canada/Mexico rate option for United States sellers. Mexico will now be grouped with the International rates. We've also updated the 'Ship To' options accordingly. North America has been replaced by 'US & Canada' and Mexico has moved to 'Latin & South America'. New Categories - Magic the Gathering
We've recently welcomed several new sellers of collectible trading cards, such as Magic the Gathering to our website. Check out these new listings!
