1) New - Category Specific Additional Shipping Discounts Available for Sellers

At the NEW StampWants.com, there are many new categories available for sellers to list other collectible items, such as coins, comic books, model trains, trading cards and much more. As you are aware, most sellers offer an additional item shipping discount, such that when a buyer purchases multiple items they are charged one shipping rate at the standard rate, and each additional item is only X cents each to ship (or even free!) However, if you're selling stamps and comic books for example, it will most likely cost more to ship each additional comic book than each additional stamp.

Until now the only viable option was to disable the shipping discount on these heavier items. With the all new Category Specific Additional Shipping Discount feature, that's all changed! Now, as a seller you can easily offer different discounted shipping rates in specific categories (including specific categories and all of their sub-categories, such as the "Books & Comics > Comics" category). This new feature can also be used in stamp categories as well. So for example, as a seller you can have a standard discounted additional item shipping rate of $0.10 per each additional item, and then set a separate rate of $0.25 for specific categories such as covers, or collections. For stamp categories, discounts can be entered as a flat rate per each additional item within that specific category. For non-stamp categories the same option is available or choose from a flat rate or percentage off (a deduction) of each additional item's standard shipping costs.

As a seller, to use this new feature log in to your StampWants account and go to the My StampWants > "Shipping Details/Discount" link under the "Selling" heading on the left hand side. For buyers, you can easily review any category specific shipping rates with ease. On all item listing pages, if category specific additional shipping rates are being used by the seller - in the main shipping section (viewable when you visit any item listing page) you will see a link "Different Discounts apply in these categories" which when clicked will open a small window showing you the different rates. As sellers start to use this new feature, as a buyer you will be able to save more on shipping rates for heavier items. This is because previously sellers needed to exclude heavier items from their shipping discounts, but now they can be included with their own special discounted rates. This week we've reach another milestone - over 30,000 registered members!

3) New Highlighting Feature in the My StampWants Area

At StampWants, a few times a week, if not more, we receive emails from members who are having trouble viewing items that should appear in the various My StampWants sections but are not. In every case, the problem is always the same. Either they, or their Internet browser mistakenly filled in a letter or word into one of the search fields (keywords, buyer/seller's username, etc.) and their current item results are being inadvertently filtered. To solve this problem, all one needs to do is delete whatever was entered into these fields. However, this is not always apparent because if there is a single letter entered it's easy to miss. That's why now, whenever any search field has anything entered into it, the entire search field will be highlighted in blue.

4) Whatever Happened to the Ending Soon and One Cent No Reserve Sections?

As you may have noticed - the One Cent No Reserve section has been removed from the home page. Originally this feature was intended to showcase items worth significantly more than one cent (usually $25+) which simply started bidding at One Cent with No Reserve. This however was not how it was used, and about 99% of the items feature on the home page were simply items worth one cent. As a result most buyers stopped using this section, which is why it has now been removed. However, it will soon be replaced by a more helpful section the "Recommended Items" section; where items will be recommended to you based on your previous purchases and items you have viewed.

However, if you simply want to find auctions starting at a penny it's very easy to do. When searching or browsing simply change the "Sort By" to "Price (Lowest First)"

As for items ending soon, this section is still available. All main categories, including "Stamps" have their own home pages, which includes an items ending soon section. Categories with over 100,000 items like "United States" and "Europe" now also have their own home pages as well. Just click on either "Home - Stamps" (by hovering over the "Home" button in the main header of any page) or simply clicking on the "Stamps" category on the main home page or browse the Stamps category, and you'll be brought to the Home - Stamps page, where you can view all stamp items ending soon.

You can also sort any search results or category by any field you want using the "Sort By" drop down menu at the top of any item results screen, which includes items ending soonest (which is the default sort).
